Gold Fortified Screened-In Porch Addition - Fairhope, AL (Baldwin County)

In June 2024, Sovine Construction completed this Gold Fortified screened-in porch addition in Fairhope, Alabama (Baldwin County).

Project Overview

We began by meeting with the homeowner to discuss their vision. Their existing Gold Fortified home had a small back porch, and we determined that a screened-in porch addition would be the best solution. Since this project was an addition to a Gold Fortified home, it was essential that our work met Gold Fortified standards to maintain the home’s certification.

Planning & Permitting

  • Engineered Drawings: We collaborated with an Alabama-certified engineer to develop structural plans.

  • Permitting: Once plans were finalized, we submitted a permit application to the Fairhope Building Department, securing approval before beginning construction.

  • Fortified Inspection: We worked in conjunction with a Fortified inspector throughout the build to ensure compliance with certification requirements.

Construction & Design Features

  • Structural Integrity: We used pressure-treated poles and beams to support the roof, allowing for potential future modifications without compromising the structure’s integrity.

  • Seamless Roof Transition: The addition’s roof was tied into the existing roof, creating a cohesive and polished look.

Exterior Finishes:

  • Hardie board and batten siding, color-matched to the home’s dormers.

  • Vinyl soffit and aluminum fascia, ensuring a seamless transition between the new and existing structure.

  • Tongue-and-groove ceiling, stained and sealed for durability and aesthetic appeal.

  • Electrical Upgrades: Installed new lighting and outlets to enhance the functionality of the space.

Screen Paneling:

  • Installed high-quality pool enclosure screen paneling to provide protection from pests while maintaining airflow.

  • The aluminum framing was color-matched to the home’s existing windows for a cohesive design.

Gold Fortified Certification & Inspections

The project was fully inspected and approved by the Fairhope Building Department and Knockout Inspections for Gold Fortification certification. Ensuring this addition met Gold Fortified standards helped protect the homeowner’s certification and prevent potential increases in insurance costs.

Final Thoughts:

We truly enjoyed working on this project, providing our clients with a beautiful, functional, and structurally sound screened-in porch while ensuring their peace of mind through Gold Fortification compliance.
