Gazebo Restoration - Orange Beach, AL (Baldwin County)
In December 2023, Sovine Construction completed this gazebo restoration project in Orange Beach, Alabama (Baldwin County). Initially, the Condo Association planned to remove the gazebo due to its deteriorated condition, but we believed it could be restored and enhanced instead. After presenting our plan, we moved forward with a full restoration to bring new life to the structure.
Project Overview
The restoration involved structural repairs, a new roof, and a fresh stain application to ensure the gazebo would remain functional and visually appealing for years to come.
Structural Repairs: We replaced all rotted wood members, reinforcing the gazebo’s integrity and longevity.
Roof Replacement: The old cedar shingle roof was removed and replaced with a 29-gauge, Tuff-Rib style metal roof in a copper color, sourced from Dixie Building Supply in Summerdale, AL.
Screen Removal: Due to its poor condition, we removed the existing screening, giving the gazebo a more open and refreshed look.
Staining & Finishing: The entire gazebo was stained with a solid Sherwin-Williams stain, enhancing its durability and restoring its natural beauty.
A Unique & Timeless Structure
This project was particularly special because of the gazebo’s intricate woodwork, a design not commonly seen today. The copper-colored metal roof became a standout feature, with its color shifting throughout the day - a warm orange-red in the morning and a brilliant copper shine in midday sunlight.
We take pride in preserving and enhancing historic and unique structures, and we’re thrilled that the Condo Association chose restoration over demolition. This project not only saved a beautiful gazebo from being lost but also transformed it into a stunning and functional space for years to come.
